Serenade Spirit

She had always heard about Ghosts staying in Serenade Mansion, but her heart believed Alex more than anybody else. He had inherited the Mansion and he, possibly couldn't hide such a thing from her. After all she was to marry him next month on 14th February, 1995.

The stories didn't stop but she couldn't care less. On their wedding night, Lisa stepped in Serenade with Alex for the first time. The mansion was abnormally quiet and dark. She looked at Alex who was smiling calmly. He took her hand and said, "Let me show you around. A little scared, a little confident and a lot more excited, she walked slowly around the Mansion soaking up its history and the stories of it's previous owners. It was a tiring ordeal but she was still looking forward to the part where the marriage would be consummated.

"Where is the bedroom?", she inquired.

"Yes my dear. But we haven't seen the portrait room yet", saying this he nudged her into the room down the hallway. He began introducing her to his rather large and ancient family through their portraits. She wondered why none of them seemed to smile in the portrait. There was a slight tinge of sadness on their faces and this expression was shared by all faces alike.

They came to the corner of the room when Alex said, "I've always wanted to show you this one." Switching on the lamp, he stepped back to let her gaze at it. Her heart almost stopped beating when saw the face. Below it was a plate that said

Alex Francis
1955-1980

She looked behind, but Alex was nowhere to be seen. She could feel adrenaline pumping into her veins and at the same time her mind losing control. She looked all around her and called for Alex, but there was no sign of him. She felt herself going numb. This was too much to handle. She decided to have a last try. Summing up all her energy, she screamed his name as loud as possible...

Alex was by her side. They were in the bedroom on the mansion. The haunted mansion! She could feel her heart beating loud and clear. Alex was trying to calm her down asking her what had got into her. "It was all just a dream after all", she thought. It took a while for her to calm down. She thanked god a million times that this was just a dream.

Finally, her mind at peace, she lay down in his arms. Unknown to her senses, the portrait on the opposite wall curled up into a wicked smile.
